Roller Coasters

Wood vs. Steel

Young and Old alike have had the discussion over which is better, wood or steel? Many of the Old Timers say that nothing will ever be better than wood. A good majority of the youngsters say that steel is the best. Having ridden a quite a few of both, it is a tough call which is really better.

Wood seems to be a little more jerky in and around the corners. There is definitely a lot more noise on a wooden roller coaster, when compared to a steel roller coaster. The twists and turns are hidden in the framework of a wooden roller coaster, which greatly adds to the thrill.

Steel allows for a faster smoother ride, that often includes loops. Some of the newest steel roller coasters give the illusion of flying through the air, as opposed to riding in a train car on a wooden roller coaster. Steel also allows us to defy gravity, hanging us upside down and twisting us at every possible angle.

You make the call! Below are some of the best of both worlds.
